Organizing a Safe Routes to School Program
can be daunting. With guidance from experienced organizations that
have successful programs in place however, you too can succeed. This 60 minute
Webinar will focus on one component of WalkBoston's comprehensive Safe Routes
to School (SRTS) program: their Pedestrian Safety Training for Second Graders
education program.
Pedestrian safety training is great way to engage students, teachers and parents in walk to school programs. This kid-friendly training uses the real environment to teach important walking safety lessons to young students. As the webinar covers in detail, students are taken on short walks around their school environments - they learn from the real world how to stay safe while walking. This webinar explains the program step-by-step: how the training is organized at schools, how the adult trainers are taught, and what the students learn on their walks. The program is on the road across Massachusetts, being taught to second graders in urban, suburban and rural schools. Join us to find out more and how you can organize your own program.
Nicole Mogul from America Walks will give a brief introduction on America Walks and how the organization can assist you with your programs.
This webinar is part of the Safe Routes Coaching Action Network Webinar Series, developed by America Walks and the National Center for Safe Routes to School.
