John Russell

John Russell has always been drawn to the challenges of the physical world. Scaling mountains, erecting buildings, planning city development or guiding boats through challenging waters. The fuel that fires John’s passion is a drive to perfection grounded in a spirit of personal, civic and social responsibility.

John chose to live in Portland before he had a job because he had a sense that Portlanders could control their own destiny. That they could make a difference. He fell in love with the city and has been actively involved in the shaping of Portland’s skyline for over 30 years.

His involvement with the Portland Development Commission, the Mayor’s Business Roundtable, the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee for Economic Development as well as the Oregon Transportation Commission, the Portland Planning Commission and the Portland Historic Landmark Commission shows Russell Development Company’s commitment to the planned growth of the city’s look and feel.
