April 28, 2016- America Walks Release Report “100 Years of Walking”
Kristen Henry, America Walks Program Coordinator, recently spoke with walking advocate Donald Bean. Mr. Bean shared his insights on the benefits of walking and the importance of creating walkable communities. “I walk every day when the weather is decent for about 40 minutes.” he says; “I attribute my long life, at least in part, to that.” Read the full article here. 

April 24, 2016- America Walks Participates in National ParkRx Day
America Walks was excited to be part of the Washington DC celebration of National Park Rx Day. The day was held at Meridian Hill Park and attended by over 800 people. For more on the event visit their website here.

April 19, 2016- America Walks to Host May 12 Webinar on Community Action
The release of the Surgeon General’s Call to Action on Walking & Walkable Communities in September 2015 was a watershed moment for the walking movement. Its release provided leadership and motivation for governments, businesses and organizations to address the numerous barriers to safe, active mobility and promoted the multiple health benefits of walking. April 14, 2016- America Walks Hosts Walking as a Practice Webinar
In this webinar, we take a take a closer look at the “Walking as a Practice” report that was released in January 2016 and can be downloaded here. Participants hear from the author of the report, Jonathon Stalls of Walk2Connect, as well as representatives from several of the case studies. April 11, 2016- America Walks to Host Webinar with National Association of Regional Councils 
Join America Walks and the National Association of Regional Councils for a webinar on May 5th at 2pm Eastern, 11am Pacific. The webinar will examine how federal transportation funding is allocated through Regional Councils and how to access it for projects that promote walkable communities including complete streets, safety efforts and place-making. Learn more about the webinar and register here.
