Communications Specialist Emilie Bahr is a writer and AICP-certified urban planner, and an avid pedestrian, runner and bicyclist passionate about making communities more conducive to active transportation. Emilie’s research and professional interests center on how the shape of the built environment influences public health, economic opportunity and environmental outcomes.
Her previous work includes heading up transportation coalitions focused on pedestrian and bicycle safety in Louisiana. She has also worked as a journalist covering government, energy and business. Her writing has appeared in the Huffington Post, Next City and Momentum magazines and her first book, Urban Revolutions: A woman’s guide to two-wheeled transportation, was released in 2016.
She lives in the Bayou St. John neighborhood of New Orleans with her husband, an environmental lawyer, and infant son.
