Park and recreation agencies in all 50 states are invited to share their best ideas on increasing access to play spaces for children and families. Agencies with the most innovative and impactful project ideas will receive grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 to build their projects. AARP Community Challenge
AARP is spearheading a challenge to fund projects that help improve livability for people of all ages. Projects can range from short-term activities costing a few hundred dollars to sizable efforts that might need thousands. Funded projects must be fully completed by November 1, 2017. Regional Grant Opportunities
Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware & New Jersey
The Wells Fargo Regional Foundation has announced Neighborhood Planning Grants and Neighborhood Implementation Grants “to improve the quality of life for children and families living in low-income communities in Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware by concentrating resources on comprehensive, neighborhood-based economic and community development initiatives.” More information may be found on the Foundation’s website. Planning grants are due September 1, 2017. Implementation grants are due: (Spring) April 7th; (Fall) October 20, 2017.
The New York State Health Foundation has issued a Request for Proposals to support conference attendance among nonprofit organizations in New York State working s to improve the health of residents in the state. Conferences may be at the regional, state, or national level; conferences outside the United States will not be considered. Scholarships of up to $2,000 per person will be awarded for up to two attendees at each organization (for a maximum of $4,000). Scholarship funding will be used to cover the costs of registration fees, travel and lodging, and incidentals for attendees while at the conference. Applicants will be eligible for a one-time, nonrenewable award in this area. Funding from this award may not be used to cover conference or other related travel expenses that are already being supported through another funding source. Complete details are available here. Florida Blue Foundation: Build Healthy, Strong Communities
Working in partnership with nonprofit organizations, the Florida Blue Foundation addresses critical issues in local communities, opening new windows of opportunity to better enable our neighbors to reach their potential.
Build Healthy, Strong Communities encompasses applications for programs and support related to improving education/literacy, especially birth through 5; health and human services; arts and culture; and community development. Details may be found here: https://www.floridablue.com/
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development. Grants are available for projects with a total cost of $100,000 or more. Grants shall not exceed $3,000,000 for any project.
