January 17, 2017- America Walks Attends TRB Annual Meeting
This past week America Walks staff had the pleasure of attending Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Annual Meeting in Washington D.C. This Conference, with the theme Transportation Innovation: Leading the Way in an Era of Rapid Change was full of important and interesting transportation research and attracted over 13,000 people from around the world. With over 800 sessions and workshops addressing everything from policy to research to practice this conference had something for everyone.  Read more about our time at TRB here. 

January 12, 2017- New Webinar- Path to a Walkable Future
Walkable communities are the most successful when people come together to create a place where every person has safe, accessible and enjoyable active transportation. What kind of coalitions and partnerships have worked best in creating walkability? January 11, 2017- America Walks Releases Report on Walking College Program
Over the past two years, we have worked with advocates from across the US through our Walking College program to build skills, learn from experts and each other, and, ultimately, strengthen their capacity to create walkable communities.  The Walking College curriculum and training process is outlined in a new report to look at how we are working to support, grow and improve this national walking movement. Learn more and read the report here.

January 5, 2017- America Walks Hosts Policy Briefing
America Walks and Rails-to-Trails Conservancy hosted a policy briefing on January 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. Eastern. January 3, 2017- America Walks Announces 2016 Every Body Walk! Micro Grant Recipients
America Walks and the Every Body Walk! Collaborative are excited to announce the second round of Every Body Walk! Micro Grant awardees. The micro grant program provides funds that support grassroots efforts aimed at getting communities walking and creating more safe, accessible and enjoyable places to walk and be physically active. Check out the 22 communities receiving support for walking and walkability project here.
