October 31, 2016- 2015 Micro Grant Awardees Get People Walking!
America Walks and the Every Body Walk! Collaborative are excited about the great work carried out to date by our community partners as part of our first-ever round of micro grants awarded last year. The grants, issued in the wake of the U.S. Surgeon General’s Call to Action to get America walking, helped to fund an array of creative projects that are getting people moving. October 26, 2016- Transit Center Offers Matching Funds for Micro Grants
TransitCenter is thrilled to partner with America Walks and the Every Body Walk! Collaborative to help bridge the often siloed worlds of walkability and transit advocacy. Towards that goal, TransitCenter will award 1-1 matching funds to walkability projects selected as part of the Every Body Walk! Micro Grants that improve access to transit. Learn more here.

October 17, 2016- New Webinar Announced- Walking at Work
Learn how to incorporate walking during our daily routine at work with the November 17th webinar “Walking at Work” which will explore the topic of walking meetings and train attendees on how to encourage walking in their own business or organization. Learn more and register here.

October 13, 2016- America Walks Hosts Rural Communities Webinar
America Walks hosted a webinar on Walking and Walkability in Rural Communities on October 13, 2016. The webinar featured presenters from WalkBoston, Safe Routes to School National Partnership, and Active Living Research. To view a recording of the webinar, click here. 

October 11, 2016- America Walks and National Walking Summit Highlighted in Strong Towns 
Strong Towns posted a piece by Communications and Public Affairs Manager Heidi Simon on the power of walkability to strengthening communities across the US. The post also highlighted the 2017 National Walking Summit’s call for proposals. Read more here.

October 6, 2016- Executive Director Speaks On Increase in Pedestrian Fatalities
Executive Director Kate Kraft spoke out on the increase in traffic fatalities and potential causes to the disturbing numbers released on 2015 data. Her interview can be found in “Death Toll Climbs for Walkers and Cyclists as Traffic Safety Measures Take a Back Seat.”

October 2, 2016- Every Body Walk! Collaborative Launches 2016 Grant Program
America Walks and the Every Body Walk! Collaborative are excited to announce the second year of Micro Grant Funding. This program will award grantees up to $1,500.00 for projects related to increasing walking and walkability. Click here to view the application.
