America Walks Speaks at Main Street America Event

Ian Thomas spoke today at a national convening titled “The Convergence of Health, Place, and the Economy: Creating an Action Agenda for Rural Main Streets” hosted by the Project for Public Spaces and Main Street America.  He discussed outcomes from America Walks’ CDC-funded State Collaborative Workshops on Walkability series and described a model main street revitalization project in Batesville, AR.  At the end of the two-day convening, America Walks and organizations from multiple sectors made specific commitments to work together to address health and economic challenges in rural towns through a place-based approach.
