August 11, 2017- America Walks Launches New Walking Towards Justice Webinar Series
Too often discussions in walking and walkability happen without the benefit of historical facts, community precedents and cultural awareness. This unfortunately results in a lack of knowledge and understanding in the systematic and socially-constructed creation of past and present inequalities in neighborhood walkability—particularly in low-income and communities of colors. August 9, 2017- America Walks Releases Report on Every Body Walk! Micro Grantees
We are proud to report that the recipients of our second round of Micro Grant funding are showing how transformational seemingly small steps can be. Maps, murals, simple signage, and walking groups, among other endeavors, accomplished for relatively little cost, are adding up to big results for the 22 organizations that received funding in 2016. August 8, 2017- America Walks to Co-Host New Jersey Inclusive Health Training
Inclusive communities provide individuals with disabilities equal access to, and opportunities for, healthy living. This can be achieved by implementing policy, systems, and environmental changes that increase access to physical activity, healthful food, and healthy weight management initiatives. Read more here.
