Women of the Walking Movement: Susan Feldman
“We need infrastructure for pedestrian safety, but building design and orientation are so important, especially for women, children and vulnerable populations,” says Susan Feldman, America Walks’ recently retired Finance and Operations Manager of 8 years.
Susan always placed a strong emphasis on “safe” when we talk about safe walkable communities. She’s been a long-time advocate of the crime prevention through environmental design concept. As an urban planner, she advocated for legislating “eyes on the street’ by requiring windows and street entrances to abut sidewalks, as well as eliminating parking lots between the sidewalk and the building.
