America Walks Presents at Building Culture of Health

On Wednesday, November 30th the annual Building a Culture of Health in New Jersey meeting took place at the Pines Manor in Edison New Jersey. This year’s theme was Advancing the Population Health Agenda and included a keynote presentation from Dr. Maya Rockeymoore, President of the Center for Global Policy Solutions a social change nonprofit dedicated to making policy work for people and their environments. Breakout sessions covered topics from the data included in the new National Equity Atlas to engaging youth as civic leaders. America Walks Program Coordinator, Kristen Henry had the opportunity to present in one of these breakout session entitled, Evaluation and Measurement are not Four Letter Words. Kristen introduced America Walks to the conference attendees and had the opportunity to spotlight the process of implementing the Walking College over two years and how the evaluation of this program had led to change and improvement over this time. Board President Kathy Smith moderated the panel which also included Board Member Charles Brown, Senior Research Specialist with the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center and adjunct professor at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University as well as Erin Bunger of the Center for Research and Evaluation in Education and Human Services at Montclair State University
