Take Action

Creating safe, walkable places takes engaged, committed community members who work to make walking a necessary part of transportation, planning and development decisions. Likewise, it takes promoting the benefits of walking and showing people how to make it fun and easy.

The places where we live, work and play result from a combination of deliberate decisions, financial allocations and political will. In many cases, these decisions have not produced “places people love” nor developed vibrant, livable communities.

The resources in this section will help you and your communities get organized to work on walking. They will provide you with specific targets for change that can improve access to safe walking opportunities and begin creating places people love.
