America Walks State and Local Program Director Brings Vision Zero to Hometown
America Walks State and Local Program Director Ian Thomas brought home his efforts to make America a great place to walk this past week. As part of his work on the Mayor’s Task Force for Pedestrian Safety in Columbia, MO, Ian helped to get Vision Zero adopted. By February, the subcommittees of the task force will need to have suggestions ready for improved pedestrian safety in Columbia. Read more about this exciting development here.
Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all. Cities who adopt Vision Zero aim to set a timeline and a commitment and bring stakeholders together to ensure a basic right of safety for all people as they move about their communities.
