Louise Lockett Gordon, M.P.H. is an avid runner and beholden to her two dogs’ walking whims. She believes that walking should be the foundation of healthy transportation networks and that all people should be able to get to where they want or need to go with dignity. Louise served as a Senior Epidemiologist for a local Virginia health district for seven years before transitioning to advocacy work to promote healthier built environments.
As the previous Director of Bike Walk RVA for Sports Backers, she advocated and mobilized support for the construction of more safe, convenient, and connected places for people to bike and walk, as well as develop and maintain relationships with key local government officials, bike and walk organizations, transportation officials, and others interested in building improved bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure in Virginia’s greater Richmond region. In 2019, she was recognized by the WTS Advancing Women in Transportation – Central Virginia chapter as an Innovative Transportation Solution award recipient.
Louise transitioned back to Virginia Department of Health to lead the Epidemiology team for the Richmond and Henrico Health Districts.
She earned her Masters Degree in Public Health from Eastern Virginia Medical School. She has a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the College of William and Mary. She is also an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
