August 18, 2016- America Walks Hosts Georgia Workshop
On Tuesday, August 9th, State and Local Program Director Ian Thomas, in partnership with Toole Design’s Ian Lockwood, facilitated a training workshop in Atlanta, GA for about 30 project officers and evaluation specialists with the Centers for Disease Control’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity. Read more

August 10, 2016- America Walks Recommendations on Proposed Performance Measures Rule
America Walks and other members of the National Complete Streets Coalition wrote to Department of Transportation Secretary Foxx to urge him to reconsider the proposed rule which establishes performance measures for the National Highway System, freight movement on the Interstate system, congestion, and on-road mobile source emissions. The rule as it stands does not adequately account for people who walk, bike or use other forms of active transportation. To read our letter and recommendations, click here.

August 4, 2016- America Walks Hosts Iowa Walkability Workshop
America Walks hosted a Walking Workshop at the Wellmark YMCA on Tuesday, partnering with the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative, the Center for Disease Control, the Project for Public Spaces, Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa Department of Public Health, and Iowa Economic Development Authority to discuss walking and walkability in Iowa’s communities. Read More 

August 2, 2016- America Walks Hosts Training with Center for Transportation Excellence
America Walks and the Center for Transportation Excellence hosted an in-depth training on local ballot measures. The online training was attended by advocates from the walking and transit world to discuss ways to work together to promote active transportation.
