January 22, 2016- America Walks Hosts Ron Sims for Chat on January 20
America Walks was excited to host Ron Sims on January 20, 2016 for our first-ever Twitter Chat. The chat took place over an hour and offered participants a chance to get insights from Ron on his experience and expertise on walking, walkable communities and how to build a walking movement. A selection of questions and responses are posted here.

January 20, 2016- New Webinar “Pedestrian Planning for Communities: A Transferrable Training and Implementation Program from Kentucky” 
America Walks’ Tools for the Field webinar series continues February 11th by showcasing Kentucky’s “Pedestrian Planning for Communities” training and implementation program. In the last few years, this partnership effort, led by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Department for Public Health, has helped 30 communities across the state to develop, adopt and start to fund and implement pedestrian plans. Register Here! 

January 19, 2016- America Walks Releases New Report “Walking as a Practice”
America Walks is excited to release our new report “Walking as a Practice” with its related case studies. Walking as a Practice begins with choosing to walk for reasons other than transportation. The report looks at how when we individually or collectively choose to walk, we are doing more for ourselves, for each other, and for our communities than we could ever imagine. Read the full report and case studies here. 

January 14, 2016- America Walks Hosts Livable Communities for All Ages Webinar
America Walks is excited to partner with AARP for its first webinar of 2016. To meet its commitment to creating great places for people of all ages, AARP has developed several resources that should be in the toolbox of any walking advocate. We explored these resources and how one community is using them to make a safe, walkable, livable community. Watch the recording here.

January 11, 2016- Every Body Walk! Collaborative Announces Micro Grant Awards
America Walks and the Every Body Walk! Collaborative are excited to announce the awarding of our ten micro grants in support of the Call to Action. This new micro grant program was designed to assist local walking advocates build on the momentum of the newly released Surgeon General’s Call to Action.  Read more about the ten communities here.
