June 24, 2015- America Walks Comments on DRIVE Act
On June 24th, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) considered a six-year transportation bill, called the DRIVE Act. This is one step along the way towards a new transportation bill. Read comments on the bill and find out to add your voice to the call for greater protections for a walkable America.

June 23, 2015- America Walks Hosts “Designing Places for People” Webinar
On June 23, America Walks held the second webinar in the “Walking College” webinar series.  “Designing Places for People” takes a deeper look into the design and implementation of walkable communities.

June 18, 2015- New Free Webinar “Institutionalizing the Change” 
The third webinar in America Walks’ “Walking College” series reviews public policy and private marketplace strategies to increase walkability. June 11, 2015- New Free Webinar  “Designing Places for People”

June 9, 2015: America Walks Signs Letter of Support for TAP
America Walks has signed on with 300 organizations in a letter of support to Congress urging for robust funding of the Transportation Alternatives Program and other federal programs that ensure that Americans are able to safely walk or bike as part of a complete transportation system. Read the letter here. 

June 8, 2015- Walking College Launches
The inaugural Walking College program has launched with 25 Fellows beginning course work and discussions. Follow their progress on the new Walking College Webpage.

June 4, 2015- New Free Webinar “Why Walking?”
America Walks’ summer series of webinars has been designed for the 25 appointed Fellows of the “Walking College,” but is open to the public.  The first webinar in the series, “Why Walking?” takes a foundational look at the practice of walking and the history of walkability.

June 4, 2015- America Walks Supports Safe Routes to School Funding
America Walks is teaming up with PreventObesity.net to push State Departments of Transportation to fully fund Safe Routes to School programs. Walking to school is a great opportunity to build healthy, lasting relationships with your kids and a healthy, active lifestyle for your entire family. Read More
