Julie McCoy has spent over 30 years working in public affairs, policy, and issue
management with extensive experience in municipal government, political and policy
campaigns, as well as stakeholder mobilization and communications. Julie’s specialty is
analysis and strategic direction on complex and nuanced policy issues working with a
variety of stakeholders. She thrives on leading diverse teams and mentors staff in a
variety of disciplines that amplify mission-critical narratives and messages.
After working on Capitol Hill for a congressman from Idaho, Julie and her husband
moved back out West and started Mercury Group, a political and public affairs firm.
Mercury Group created public affairs campaigns for clients ranging from AT&T, Boeing,
and the Sierra Club as well as developing creative and advising political campaigns
including local state and federal candidates as well as state and local ballot initiatives.
Julie left the firm in 2010 after managing Mike McGinn’s successful run for Mayor of
Seattle and served as his Chief of Staff for the next 4 years. Since then, Julie has
continued her work advising candidates and organizations on issues and policies. Julie
and her husband Bill Broadhead live in Seattle, Washington and have 5 sons.
