TODAY is National Call-In Day to Protect Federal Funding for Walking/Biking

Please take a few minutes to leave the following message for your US Senators and US Representative (find them here) or call the Capitol Switchboard at (202)224-3121.  Read more for your call-in script. . .

CALL-IN SCRIPT: “Hi, my name is [NAME] and I live in [PLACE]. I’m calling to ask Representative/Senator [NAME] to protect funding for walking and biking by preserving the local grant program in the Cardin-Cochran amendment; AND to ensure continued funding for programs like Safe Routes to School, Recreational Trails and Transportation Enhancements in the next Transportation Bill.”

These vital programs help every person in this country walk and bike safely from place to place. Whether you are crossing the street, walking your child to school, or taking a bike ride on a trail, protecting dedicated funding for waking and biking is a critical component in maintaining these programs.

A small group of House and Senate leaders (see conferee list here) are negotiating the final Transportation Bill right now. The window is closing fast on our last real chance to impact the final bill.

Please call your Senators and Representative TODAY!  Thanks.
