WEBINAR: Connecting the Dots

Where Transportation, Climate Change, and Inflation Intersect

Connecting the dots webinar: Wednesday, July 27, 2022; 2pm ET.

Our July webinar will illustrate the ways that climate change and pressing social issues, like the cost of housing and transportation, impact one another (and us)

Transportation and land use reform is a key climate strategy because it reduces fossil fuel use and therefore carbon emissions.  With housing and gas prices as key drivers, it is also a key strategy to protect local residents from future financial costs through enhanced community-oriented design.

Everyone is looking for ways to reduce the impacts of pollution and our reliance on oil and coal, We also all want to begin healing our communities. Soaring housing and gas prices only are only adding to the urgency. People need relief. To reduce costs, improve our climate, and create community-centered design that works for everyone, we can’t sleep on the roles of transportation and the need for land use reform.

What Does Inflation Have To Do With Climate Change?

Join our next webinar to learn about the relationship between transportation, climate, and inflation. You’ll also learn current strategies that activists, community members, and elected leaders are using to help protect communities against rising fuel costs.

With every webinar we host, our goal is to provide attendees with new information and knowledge to walk away with and perhaps apply in their own communities and advocacy efforts.

In this webinar we are hoping guests will take with them these learning objectives:

  • A clear understanding of the intersection between climate and transportation
  • A clear understanding the role of land use and transportation play in driving fossil fuel use
  • A similar understanding of the role in current key drivers of inflation – housing and oil prices (alternatively: Insight into how the housing market and oil prices are contributing to the current inflation hike.
  • Actionable steps for communities to protect their residents against future inflation through community design
  • The equity tradeoffs in EV adoption vs walkable & accessible communities

Panelists Yonah Freemark of the Urban Institute and Nailah Pope-Harden, Executive Director of ClimatePlan are on the front lines of the fight to both curb climate change and make our society more livable for everyone. Join us:
