Walkable communities are beneficial for safety, health, and the economy — but changes to streets and land use can spark debate and resistance…

That’s why we’re introducing Making Streets for Everyone: A Walkability Workshop for Elected and Government Leaders!

Making Streets for Everyone is a new virtual workshop series designed to give elected officials and government leaders the knowledge, tools, and confidence to advance walkable, people-first communities.

Across four interactive sessions, participants will learn:

  • The fundamentals of street design
  • How street design impacts safety, health, and economic vitality
  • Policy and funding tools communities can use to implement change
  • How to communicate the value of walkability using real-world examples

This series is designed for leaders who want to do the right thing, but may not always know the best path forward or how to build durable support. Participants will leave better prepared to advocate for policy and funding changes to build better streets for their communities.

How It Works:

  • Four one-hour live sessions held every three weeks
  • Opportunity for discussion and Q&A
  • Pre-session readings and recorded materials provided to support deeper learning
  • Led by nationally recognized experts in walkability, public health, and transportation policy

Program Details:

  • Launch: March 20, 2026
  • Schedule: Weekly Zoom meetings, 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT
  • Cost: $400 per participant

This is an opportunity for government leaders to learn from experts and each other in a focused, practical setting designed to support real-world decision-making and lasting community impact.
